History of camera

Painting with light.
Long (very long) exposure times at first, only in 1840 Cornelius was able to make improvements to daguerreotype process of photographing (invented by L. Daguerre in late 1930s) to actually snap pictures within seconds.
Affordable portraits for the middle class. Photographing (or daguerreotyping, as it was) grew very quickly popular. In the 1850s many studios opened up, and many capitalized on this new invention.

Camera Obscura (Lt. Dark Room) -> "can be likened to a modern day camera that doesn't require a lens or film; the device projects an inverted image onto a wall or canvas".

The Magic Lantern was the forerunner of the modern slide projector. -> "Glass plate positives were capable of being projected onto a screen or wall from a machine called a Magic Lantern or Sciopticon, which passed a bright beam of light through the slide and an enlarging lens."

Digital camera technology evolved from the television images recording technique.

The history of everything?

History and Visions of New Media

This blog was created for the purpose of this course.

Having said that, I will proceed with the feedback for the first meeting from two weeks ago:
I am also agreeing with several others from this course that the final exam should be some sort of an essay, maybe even take-home-type essay. This will not put a time frame on the writing, which potentially could turn out to be more comprehensive. Well, in any case, that is what I feel would happen in my case.
Additionally, this blog could serve as a feedback form for prescribed readings (articles and such).
